Production Details:
This year is the 40th anniversary of the world famous
'Flying Scotsman' receiving a second tender which at the
time allowed the 'Scotsman' to carry a total water load of
11,000 gallons giving it an operating distance of 200 - 250
miles before its tenders needed replenishing. The addition
of this extra tender gave the 'Flying Scotsman' a unique
presence and provided a dynamic sight when seen heading up a
steam special.
To coincide with the 40th anniversary a
special Limited Edition production run of the Hornby Live
Steam 'Flying Scotsman' model with a double tender has been
included in this year's range. In total, 1,000 models will
be produced with each model complete with certificate, water
and oil fillers as well as instructions. This model is a
unique opportunity to recreate and capture those early days
of steam specials when the 'Flying Scotsman' was at that
time the only steam locomotive allowed to operate on the
main line. Please note, the second tender is not equipped
to hold water.
The individual Live Steam models are supplied
complete with operating tools including filling syringes,
steam oil and gloves. Each locomotive is fitted with an NEM
type coupling and is suitable for use with all Hornby
rolling stock. This product is only suitable for adult
collectors and not for children under 14 years old.
