New Oxford tooling introduces this motorcycle and sidecar which was widely seen as a popular form of transport from the 1930s right through to the 1950s. Used by commercial organisations as well as private bikers, the Automobile Association was a prime user, when the bike and sidecar were ridden by the AA patrolmen in their jodphur shaped trousers and high brown leather boots. AA members whose front radiators sported the AA badge, got a respectful salute from the patrolmen in those days too, as you drove by. The familiar AA Golden Yellow and Black livery is faithfully reproduced on this new model, registered HGV 228, including the AA insignia of the period. The bike is also highly detailed, especially the handlebars, which include brake levers and a rear biew mirrow. Note too, the black edge to the roof of the sidecar. For lovers of motorbikes, this is a good one with a bit of a difference to include in your line up.

WYNNS was established in Newport, Monmouthshire, in 1863. Its founder, Thomas Wynn was originally employed on the railways, but soon saw a need for an improved "onward distribution" system after goods were unloaded from the trains. Using a fleet of horses and carts, he transported goods that were delivered directly to Newport by rail and soon formed an association with a local flourmill, delivering flour to bakeries and shops in the local valleys. An association that carried on until well into the 1950s, when the mill had to close. This little K8 is shown in the WYNNS livery and carries the registration EDW 640.

1.76. Bedford TK Fire Appliance - Stanley Fire Brigade 2012 marks the 30th Anniversary of the Falklands Conflict. In April 1982, the Argentine forces invaded and occupied the British Falklands Islands and South Georgia. The British Government deployed a naval task force to retake the territory, backed up by a team of formidable RAF aircraft including the legendary Vulcan and the recently introduced Sea Harriers. British Army land forces also played a pivotal role during the 74-day war.The conflict ended on the 14th June when the Argentine Junta surrendered. As with any war, the fire brigade plays an essential role and the Stanley Fire Brigade was no exception. Shortly after the conflict, the Islands received two Bedford Carmichael Water Tenders. These appliances served the community as they rebuilt their lives and their homes after the expulsion of the Argentine invaders. Our Oxford model is an authentic replica of one of the two Bedford TK fire appliances used at that time. The vehicle is represented in a special Liberation of the Falklands 30th Anniversary sleeve. What a great souvenir this model makes for enthusiasts from several collecting disciplines - military, emergency, historical or simply nostalgia.

Brand new tooling introduces another classic fire appliance to our Emergency Services line-up. The Dennis F8 belongs to the 1950s era at a time when the famous coachbuilder's vehicles dominated the fire emergency scene. Dennis has a history going back as far as the 1890s when the brothers started manufacturing bicycles. Today, it remains one of only a handful of manufacturers specialising in fire-fighting machinery. Our model, registered 42 CMX, would have made a striking sight speeding through London, with its silver bodywork and red front, which also incorporates the Dennis name in silver/black on the radiator grille.

Finished in red with the usual level of chromework to the body, added detail includes a blue and black beacon, two bells mounted on the roof, hose reels to the rear and decorative and highly colourful crest on the sides of the appliance, where the fine detail even includes the authority motto. Registered RZ 6927, its identity "The Ulster" is also printed on the offside front panel adjacent to the chrome finished radiator.

A brand new introduction to the Oxford emergency series is the newly tooled AEC Mercury Turntable Ladder which dates from the 50s and 60s, when it was superseded by the Mercury TGM with Ergomatic cab. From its original launch in 1957 to the end of production in the late 1960s, nearly 200 AEC Mercury TLs were built, all, apart from one with full crew cabs. Over half of those manufactured came with Merryweather 100 ft ladders. Painted in silver grey and red with black chassis, this first release is registered 22 ML and contains a mass of artwork features.

The Coventry Climax Pump Trailers, used ostensibly during WWII, were portable and were towed behind any suitable car or lorry fitted with a hitch. In this way, they were able to get to confined spaces that larger fire appliances could not reach. Many vehicles were especially fitted with a tow hook, so they could be called upon in an emergency to tow the pumps. The pump trailers proved a great asset to fire brigades, especially during the Blitz on many of Britain's cities. Even after the war, the pump trailers found their way onto farms and market gardens, where they were used for irrigation purposes.
