With the Luftwaffe committed to the North African campaign in 1941/42,
"tropicalized" versions of the reconnaisance Bf 109E-4, -5, and bomb
carrying -7 were introduced, with the suffix "/Trop". These modifications
for desert warfare included filters over the air intakes and a desert
survival kit.
