Airfix - Paddle Steam Engine (A08870)
Although conceived as early as 1785, the oscillating cylinder engine did now
appear until 1827 when Joseph Maudslay (1801-1861) unveiled this example.
This was one of the most popular marine engines in the paddle steamers of
the nineteenth century and in 1828 this type of engine was fitted to the
Thames Paddle Steamer 'Endeavour' which plied between London and Richmond
until 1840. This fascinating kit has moving parts and shows the
wonderful movement of this classic Victorian engine.
