One of the most significant aircraft of the post-war
era, even though Britain’s Westland Helicopters eventually produced well
over 300 of the American Sea Kings, only a small number of these
machines became some of the highest profile aircraft to ever serve
within Britain’s armed forces. The robust and stable Sea King was an
ideal aircraft with which to undertake the specialist Search & Rescue
role across the UK, and Westland developed a number of Sea Kings
specifically for this task.
