Scalextric Caterham R500 - Blue
Product Code: C3133
The Scalextric Model: The Caterham and Lotus 7 Scalextric stable has been a
popular choice since the turn of the century with nineteen livery options. With
these little pocket rockets still in great demand we thought it time to bring
two more liveries back to the range. The Scalextric livery is based on the car
used by the Rizla-Suzuki British Superbike team as part of its launch programme
for the new flagship Seven Superlight R500 evolution.
History: The first Seven was built in 1957 by Lotus, the brainchild of Colin
Chapman, who was convinced of the advantages of small lightweight racing cars,
giving huge power to weight benefits. He actually referred to the Seven as
something he had dreamed of designing since he was a schoolboy - a 'four wheeled
motorbike'. The quickest Caterham - the R500, introduced in 1999, has a 0-60
time of 3.4 seconds (autocar) and a top speed of 146 mph
